"Cinema San Diego", the newest FLW design from Acme Studio, a pen reflecting the facade motif for the Cinema San Diego, an unbuilt project designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1915. The pen has a unique etched design producing a silver & blue finish. 5 3/8” long with the cap closed. Wright’s signature is engraved on the cap band, and “ACME” is on the clip. Pen is presented in a custom metal FLW box. ACME Studio writing instruments are well designed with a comfortable weight and shape. Pens are constructed using brass barrels with hand applied serigraph color images – the finest lacquers are used with a final protective clear coat. Quality manufacturing is demonstrated by metal-to-metal threading. This is a designers’ writing instrument for a designer and/or an enthusiast with a keen sense of style. Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) Born in Wisconsin, he grew up to be America’s greatest and most innovative Architect. Frank Lloyd Wright is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in modern Western architecture. His radically innovative designs, utilizing a building style based on natural forms, termed by Wright as organic architecture, have tagged him as a major, respected architect. His legacy is one of America’s foremost cultural treasures. In 1940, he established The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation to protect, preserve and administer his life’s work. In 1991, Architectural Record magazine published a list of the 100 most significant buildings in the world - 11 were by Frank Lloyd Wright.

ACME Studios was founded in Los Angeles in 1985 by Adrian Olabuenaga and his wife, Lesley Bailey. ACME made its first appearance with a limited edition collection of jewelry designed for them by Peter Shire, the LA-based member of the world renowned Memphis Group. Soon after the initial debut, ACME released a large collection of over one hundred pieces, MEMPHIS DESIGNERS for ACME, with the help of writer Barbara Radice and designer/architect, Ettore Sottsass. Many pieces from this collection are now in the permanent collections of museums around the world (the Denver Art Museum and Brooklyn Museum of Art in the United States). The entire series is in the permanent collection of the Groninger Museum in Holland.
