The Royal Canadian Mint issued 28 sterling silver coins between 1973 & 1976 to help finance the Olympic games held in Montreal in 1976.
This is coin #18 - diving - issued in 1975 as part of Series 5 - Summer Sports. The $5 coins are 38mm in diameter - about the size of a U.S. silver commemorative dollar. Comprised of .925 silver equating to .723 troy oz of silver. The front/obverse has the right-facing bust of the ‘young’ Queen Elizabeth II. The back/reverse is a minimalist stylized representation of a diver in motion.
